Michelle Churcher Awarded BJJ Blue Belt

Congratulations to Michelle Churcher who was awarded her BJJ blue belt on Tuesday the 21st of March. During her time at the Academy Michelle has shown incredible dedication to the art of BJJ and has been a fantastic coach in the kids classes. Michelle's dedication to physical conditioning is also inspiring as she is one of the fittest people we know!

Unfortunately yesterday was also Michelle's last day with us at the Academy as she is moving to Palmerston North to begin her university studies. It is with great sadness that we must say farewell to Michelle and we wish her all the best for the future.

New BJJ Grades November 2016

On Friday night we had 3 people awarded new grades in BJJ at the John Will Seminar. David Howarth received 4 blue tabs, Tim Freeman received his purple belt and Jeremy Murphy was awarded his black belt!!! Both Jeremy and Tim contribute a huge amount to the Academy as coaches so it was great to see them recognized with these new ranks. During the week two blue belts were also awarded to Hannu Out and Ben Driessen. Congratulations to you all.

It should be noted that it is a rare and momentous occasion when a BJJ black belt is awarded. It takes a very long time, and a lot of hard work, to achieve this coveted rank. Knowing Jeremy's long history with the art, and seeing his unwavering passion and dedication at the Academy, makes it very satisfying to see him reach this remarkable milestone. Well done Jeremy!!!
